VMware NSX® Data Center delivers virtualized networking and security entirely in software.

NSX is software-defined networking (SDN) is part of VMware’s software-defined data center (SDDC), and enabling the “virtual cloud network” to connect and protect across datacenter, clouds, and applications.

There are two different product editions of NSX:

NSX for vSphere
NSX for Multi-Hypervisor (MH).

NSX is a completely non-disruptive solution which can be deployed on any IP network from any vendor–both existing traditional networking models and next generation fabric architectures. The physical network infrastructure already in place is all that is required to deploy a software-defined data center with NSX.
